A Sinner Like Me

We know how the story ends…
And yet,
for a sinner like me,
the days leading to Sunday still ache.
Thank You, Jesus—
though those words feel so small beside the weight of it all.

Today, I held my baby girl close.
We walked beneath a weeping sky,
and as her cries filled the quiet air,
how could I not think of Mary?

Her sweet boy—
once wrapped in soft cloth and lullabies—
laid once more in her arms,
bruised, beaten, pierced.

Oh Mary…
She knew.
He knew.
And still—they did not turn away.

Could I?
Could I ever send my perfect child
to carry the crushing weight of a world
that may never love him back?

I look at my baby…
and I know—
I could not.

To witness the agony of this week,
to watch love spat upon,
to see perfection nailed and mocked—
I would break.
It would undo me.

No longer would I be called just a sinner—
but surely,
a mother of sorrows,
a silent accomplice,
a murderer.

And that alone…
that alone
tells me who He is.
That Jesus is the Christ.

Even if I knew He came to save—
to save me—
Even if I believed all would choose Him,
believe Him,
love Him…
I still could not do it.

But God did.
He chose the cross.
Chose it knowing we might never choose Him.
Chose it while we were still sinning.
Chose it—
to save a sinner like me.
